1920's Signed Persian Kermanshah Carpet with Traditional Style
Located in Dallas, TX
78759 Signed Antique Persian Kermanshah Rug, 09'08 x 11'02. Signed Persian Kermanshah rugs are Persian carpets bearing the signature or mark of the weaver, serving as an authentication of craftsmanship and providing insight into the rug's origins. Persian Kermanshah rugs are traditional handwoven rugs originating from the Kermanshah province in Iran, known for their intricate designs, fine craftsmanship, and high-quality materials like wool or silk. Featuring elaborate floral motifs, geometric patterns, and vibrant colors such as red, blue, green, and ivory, these rugs are crafted using techniques like the asymmetrical Persian knot to create detailed designs. The signatures, often woven into the rug's border or design, symbolize authenticity and craftsmanship, making signed Persian Kermanshah rugs highly coveted by collectors for their historical significance and artisanal excellence. In this hand-knotted wool antique Persian Kermanshah rug, a harmonious blend of neoclassical elegance and romantic Rococo motifs creates a captivating visual tableau. At its heart lies a cusped medallion, exquisitely adorned with a floral cross motif and anchored by palmette heart pendants at each end. The intricately designed medallion serves as the focal point, radiating timeless charm and sophistication against the neutral beige backdrop. The rug's allover pattern, reminiscent of romantic Rococo aesthetics, features a symphony of blooming palmettes, lotus blossoms, rosettes, acanthus scrolls, and stylized florals and foliage. Each element intertwines gracefully across the surface, weaving a narrative of opulence and refinement. Completing the composition is an ornate floral border, complemented by floral meander guard borders, which enclose the design with lush intricacy, adding depth and dimension to this formal masterpiece. Channeling the luxurious allure of bespoke neoclassical elegance, this signed Persian rug...

Oversized Late 19th Century Antique Persian Serapi Rug, 16'04 x 22'05
Located in Dallas, TX
74044 Oversized Late 19th Century Antique Persian Serapi Rug, 16'04 x 22'05. This magnificent hand-knotted wool antique Persian Serapi rug epitomizes the grandeur and elegance of 19th-century Persian artistry. Its breathtakingly abrashed red field serves as the perfect backdrop for a concentric octofoil medallion, exuding an air of regal sophistication. The central medallion is anchored by graceful palmette pendants at each end, evoking a sense of symmetry and refinement that is characteristic of classic Serapi designs. As the medallion blooms outward, the richly detailed pattern draws the viewer's eye to the interplay of vibrant colors and meticulous details that unfold throughout the field. Surrounding the medallion is an enchanting array of geometric floral motifs, delicately arranged in a rhythmic pattern. Each element—serrated leaves, stylized florals, rectilinear vinery, buds, and rosettes—adds to the complexity of the design, while the use of bold and contrasting hues creates a visually captivating tapestry. The corner spandrels, reflecting the motifs within the main field, are outlined with elegant cloudband accents, adding a touch of ethereal beauty to the composition. The interplay of colors, from the deep indigo blues to the rich reds and beige highlights, showcases the weaver’s mastery of natural dyes and nuanced color gradations. Framing this harmonious design is a classic samovar turtle scroll border, a hallmark of fine Serapi rugs. This traditional border, with its stylized florals and curling vinery, is flanked by a double inner and outer carnation meander guard band that unifies the composition. The elegant framing not only defines the central field but also draws the colors and motifs from within, creating a seamless transition that enhances the overall sense of balance and harmony. The meticulous detailing and proportionate layout reflect the influence of both tribal and courtly weaving traditions, making this oversized antique Serapi rug a rare blend of sophistication and rustic charm. Steeped in history, this exquisite Serapi rug is more than just a decorative piece—it is a testament to the rich weaving heritage of Northwest Persia. Such oversized Serapi rugs were woven for grand interiors, gracing the floors of opulent residences and state buildings with their majestic presence. The rug’s exceptional artistry and luxurious appeal make it a true collector’s item, capturing the essence of Persian elegance and timeless beauty. Whether displayed as the focal point of a grand living space or as a statement piece in a hospitality setting, this masterpiece exudes an undeniable sense of history and artistic mastery. Rendered in variegated shades of brick red, ruby red, crimson, in +blue, navy blue, cerulean, royal blue, beige, sand, tan, ecru, taupe, dark rose, and sky blue with other accent colors. Abrash. Antique, New and Vintage Area Rugs and Carpets for Your Home

Antique, new and vintage area rugs and carpets are a simple way to add warmth and style to any space. Area rugs can be seasonal or changed with other decorative objects to refresh an interior. Carpet piles materials can vary from wool and cotton to silk and synthetic fibers, and the purpose of a floor covering can range from reducing noise to offering a place to sit.

Vintage rugs can ground a space, and arranging furniture around them creates a measured focal point. Key furniture pieces can be placed on the rug or just the legs, such as with furniture like coffee tables in your living room.

So, how can you tell if a rug is high quality or vintage?

The three main components that determine the quality of a piece are the dyes, the wool and the number of knots per square inch. Ultimately, however, if you want to be sure the rug you’re buying is truly an antique, it is best to consult an expert.

If you want a creative design that stands out, area rugs or carpets can provide layers of color. Rugs and carpets reflect a global heritage of textiles and weaving, such as ornately patterned Persian and Indian designs. Visually striking Chinese rugs can add a delicate touch of color, while modern rugs make a statement with their geometric patterns.

Turkish rugs, with their ruby reds and misted blues, their entwined botanical designs and rhythmic geometries, are as beloved today as they were in the 13th century. The West’s current infatuation with Moroccan and North African tribal rugs stretches to the mid-20th century, when modern furniture designers embraced bold geometric patterns and even bolder palettes as counterpoints to form-follows-function interiors. Alvar Aalto, Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier were among the designers who used these rustic, natural rugs to offset austere interiors.

If you properly maintain your antique and vintage rugs, they will last for many years. When you’re thinking about how to clean a rug, it is important to keep in mind that your vacuum is not too harsh for your favorite floor covering. Frequent vacuuming is in fact necessary to remove everyday dirt that otherwise wears down the pile. Omri Schwartz of Nazmiyal does, however, stipulate that “it’s best to use an ordinary suction vacuum without bristles, as the bristles can damage the rug’s pile.” Rotating the carpet every couple of years is also recommended — it ensures that the rug gets even foot traffic.

On 1stDibs, find a vintage rug or carpet to add a layer of beauty and function to your room.
