Antique Ivory French Aubusson Rug. Size: 10 ft x 13 ft 6 in
Located in New York, NY
Stunning antique French Aubusson rug, country of origin: France, date circa 1900 - Size: 10 ft x 13 ft 6 in (3.05 m x 4.11 m). This delicate French Aubusson rug has a dreamy, romantic feel. It was created around the turn of the 20th century. Even though it is over 100 years old, it is the perfect piece for several contemporary design trends. This piece is recognizably an Aubusson that uses softer pinks and pastels, which is a hallmark of Aubusson works. This carpet is a finely woven tapestry. It has a backing to protect it from wear. The design has a Rococo feel with its sweeping curves, scrollwork, and trompe l’oeil floral patterns. Curvy, natural forms are a characteristic of late Baroque and Victorian design. This carpet would be perfectly at home in a formal room with gilding, elegant antique furniture, and brocades throughout. It has a classic feel that is refined and elegant. It also has an aged look that gives it a shabby chic feel, too. Romance pink and millennial pink are among the most popular color trends...

Vintage Pink Persian Silk Qum Rug, 13'07 x 20'01
Located in Dallas, TX
72891 Vintage Persian Silk Qum Rug, 13'07 X 20'01. Emanating French Romanticism with incredible detail and texture, this vintage Persian silk Qum rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The visual complexity and dreamy colorway woven into this piece work together emulating true decadence. A concentric round medallion takes center stage. An allover floral pattern composed of blooming palmettes, leafy tendrils, and arabesque vines intwined with peony, carnation, and lotus flowers rhythmically dance in a frenzied garden of silky beige. Elaborate spandrels boasting Baroque elements radiate from the corners. An elegant millefleur border enclosed with a series of ornamental floral meander guard borders create a refreshing finish to a formal composition. With its highly decorative aesthetic and regal charm, this palatial Persian rug can add an air of formality. Perfect for a large entertaining space, hotel lobby, lounge area, state room, great room, drawing room, country club, academic library, golf locker room, trophy room, private Chambers, great room, wine cellar, executive suite, conservatory, royal suite, billiards room, owners retreat, dining room, living room, or formal sitting room. Well-suited for a variety of interior styles: Rococo, French Provincial, Rocaille, Louis XV, Louis XIV, Parisian, Baroque, Empire, Romantic, Georgian, Neoclassical, Southern Living, Renaissance, Victorian, Regency, European, Old World, English Country, Tudor, Manor House and Traditional. Arizona Woolen Carpet, by Nathalie Du Pasquier from Memphis Milano
Located in La Morra, Cuneo
The Arizona handwoven wool carpet, was originally designed in 1983 by Nathalie Du Pasquier for Memphis Milano. Nathalie du Pasquier was born in Bordeaux, France, in 1957. She has lived and worked in Milano since 1979. Until 1986 she worked as a designer and was a founder member of Memphis for which she designed many textiles, carpets, furniture and objects. When the group broke up in 87, painting became her main activity. Memphis is the great cultural phenomenon of the 1980s that revolutionized creative and commercial logics in design. Born from the idea of Ettore Sottsass and a group of young designers and architects, in Milan, coupled in the years by famous designers from the international scene, Memphis turned upside down all of the existing parameters on living. Ettore Sottsass as the backbone of the group, design gained a new concept and expression through new shapes, materials and patterns, expanding the creative limits of the industry. Memphis became a symbol of New Design. Its influence is still clear in various sectors of production and beyond. Additional info: - Dimensions: W 98.5, D 70.25 inches - Materials: Wool - Pricing: Prices do not include VAT. - Purchased products are shipped with forms of authenticity by Memphis Milano. Antique, New and Vintage Area Rugs and Carpets for Your Home

Antique, new and vintage area rugs and carpets are a simple way to add warmth and style to any space. Area rugs can be seasonal or changed with other decorative objects to refresh an interior. Carpet piles materials can vary from wool and cotton to silk and synthetic fibers, and the purpose of a floor covering can range from reducing noise to offering a place to sit.

Vintage rugs can ground a space, and arranging furniture around them creates a measured focal point. Key furniture pieces can be placed on the rug or just the legs, such as with furniture like coffee tables in your living room.

So, how can you tell if a rug is high quality or vintage?

The three main components that determine the quality of a piece are the dyes, the wool and the number of knots per square inch. Ultimately, however, if you want to be sure the rug you’re buying is truly an antique, it is best to consult an expert.

If you want a creative design that stands out, area rugs or carpets can provide layers of color. Rugs and carpets reflect a global heritage of textiles and weaving, such as ornately patterned Persian and Indian designs. Visually striking Chinese rugs can add a delicate touch of color, while modern rugs make a statement with their geometric patterns.

Turkish rugs, with their ruby reds and misted blues, their entwined botanical designs and rhythmic geometries, are as beloved today as they were in the 13th century. The West’s current infatuation with Moroccan and North African tribal rugs stretches to the mid-20th century, when modern furniture designers embraced bold geometric patterns and even bolder palettes as counterpoints to form-follows-function interiors. Alvar Aalto, Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier were among the designers who used these rustic, natural rugs to offset austere interiors.

If you properly maintain your antique and vintage rugs, they will last for many years. When you’re thinking about how to clean a rug, it is important to keep in mind that your vacuum is not too harsh for your favorite floor covering. Frequent vacuuming is in fact necessary to remove everyday dirt that otherwise wears down the pile. Omri Schwartz of Nazmiyal does, however, stipulate that “it’s best to use an ordinary suction vacuum without bristles, as the bristles can damage the rug’s pile.” Rotating the carpet every couple of years is also recommended — it ensures that the rug gets even foot traffic.

On 1stDibs, find a vintage rug or carpet to add a layer of beauty and function to your room.
