About the Item

An authentic example of mid-century American design: this original Eames DCM (Dining Chair Metal) chair was designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, circa 1950s. The DCM is celebrated for its innovative molded plywood seat and backrest, supported by a chromed steel rod frame. This particular chair features its original red wool upholstery, paired with cream-colored fiberglass-reinforced plywood backs — an uncommon and highly collectible colorway. The black vinyl edge banding and patina on the steel legs are consistent with original Herman Miller production details from the 1950s–1960s period. We also the same chair available in original blue upholstery. Please view our other listings for more details. Ask ChatGPT
