About the Item

Classic pine stool designed by Charlotte Perriand for the Les Arcs Ski Resort in France. Great lines and simplicity common with Perriand designs. Wooden cross brace under the seat and two pine studs in each stool's seat for added strength and support. Varying patina and wear to each bench. Perriand (1903–1999) was a pioneering French architect and designer, renowned for her innovative contributions to modern design in the 20th century. Early in her career, she collaborated with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, contributing significantly to iconic furniture designs like the LC4 chaise longue. Perriand sought to create functional, accessible design that improved everyday life, blending modernist aesthetics with natural materials. Her travels to Japan and other parts of Asia deeply influenced her work, introducing elements of craftsmanship and cultural dialogue into her practice. Beyond furniture, she played a key role in designing interiors and architectural spaces that emphasized simplicity, light, and harmony with the environment. Her legacy continues to inspire contemporary design and architecture with a humanistic and forward-thinking approach.
