The earrings are fashioned into mesmerizing leaves, dancing up the ear in a dazzling display of brilliance and fire. These spectacular earrings were worn by the talented and beautiful Pop Sensation, Katy Perry, at the 2022 Met Gala. These exceptional clip-on earrings measure 37.5 mm in length and 15.9 mm at their widest part. They weigh 13 grams.
Founded in Paris in 1847, by Louis-Francois Cartier, the company known as Cartier quickly became recognized for its exemplary workmanship and taste. Louis-Francois Cartier began his esteemed career at 28, after an apprenticeship with master watchmaker Adolphe Picard resulted in Cartier taking over the master’s workshop, 29 rue Montorgueil, Paris. He expanded the premises, and built his reputation on knowing how to satisfy the most extravagant of desires. By 1853 Louis Francois was able to move his business to the more fashionable Palais-Royal district at 5 Rue Neuve des petits Champs. He became a favorite of Princess Mathilde, the cousin of Napoleon III, whose patronage opened the door to Parisian society. In 1874 Alfred Cartier took over the company from his father Louis Francois. In 1898 the Cartier company made a final move in Paris and they still remain at 13 Rue de La Paix, in the heart of Parisian elegance and luxury. Alfred Cartier entrusted his three sons to manage the Maison de Cartier. Rare pieces, produced in very limited quantities in the late 1960’s as part of the ‘Royal Bini’ collection of ceramic jewelry produced by Royal Copenhagen after the acquisition of Georg Jensen. This collection was sold exclusively through the Georg Jensen shop in Copenhagen in the late 1960’s. The earrings, itself, like the rest of the collection, are sleek, refined and of high impact.
They have a total weight of 15.3 Grams and a diameter of 31 mm (1.22 Inches).
Stamped with the maker's mark for Royal Copenhagen, the Danish hallmarks and signed, "A.M. DENMARK STERLING 925".
Anton Michelsen (1809–1877) was born 1809 in Copenhagen Denmark, he completed a goldsmith's apprenticeship in Odense in 1839 before moving back to Copenhagen where he continued his training in Dyrkoph's and court goldsmith J.B. Dalhoff's workshops. He also attended the Royal Danish Academy of Arts where he was influenced by Gustavfriedrich Hersch.
In 1836, he went on a long journey abroad, working in some of the leading goldsmiths in Germany and Paris. He established his own goldsmith in Gothersgade, Copenhagen when he returned to Denmark in 1841. He immediately won the attention of the royal family and the king Christian VIII charged him with executing all Danish orders with title of royal court and order jeweler. Michelsen was the only Danish goldsmith who was represented at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1855.
The company of A. Michelsen, was a leading Danish jeweler founded in 1841 by Anton Michelsen in Copenhagen. It was responsible for executing all Danish royal orders and was absorbed by the Georg Jensen company in 1985.
