This is a lovely antique Swiss 10 airs Gonçalo Alves cylinder music box, manufactured by Langdorff & Fils, circa 1880.
The case is inlaid and crossbanded with floral marquetry and banded decoration. The lid opens to reveal an ebonised interior with a glazed hinged cover showing the comb, and a paper label to the underside of the lid stating 'Fabrique De Geneve' Langdorff & Fils, Fabricants
The music box has got its original tune sheet which is stamped:
"No 24017 Fabrique de Geneve" and lists the ten tunes and composers.

It is is in excellent condition and in working order.

American Bank Protection Company Alarm System Switchboard in Birch Case c 1920

A fine example of a double alarm system switchboard in birch case circa 1920 manufactured by the American Bank Protection Company of Philadelphia, PA. This alarm system uses of a pair of timers which provided redundancy in the case of the failure of one; the same design used in multiple movements found in time locks. The switchboard is Model #27-2028, and the lower section of the case housed any dry battery case or battery electrical supplies, as these were needed since central electricity stations were not yet common, especially in rural areas. The interior of the lower case shows handwritten service records beginning around 1920. This alarm system switchboard appears to be in amazingly preserved condition, with minimal imperfections and light wear commensurate with age and use. This handsome and decorative, Gothic wall shrine is completely hand-crafted out of solid oak and it will look awesome, no matter where you decide to mount or place her. It must have taken its creator quite a few days to first draw this intricate design on paper and then hand carve the entire piece out of solid oak. The Gothic Style elements are deeply handcarved in both doors and they make this shrine highly decorative and an absolute joy to own and look at. This cabinet chapel (or chapel cabinet) comes with its brass lock in perfect working order and also with its original gothic style key. The handgrip is in fact a Gothic trefoil symbol (for the trinity). What also makes this piece extra attractive is the Gothic church window-like frame behind the doors. It is among the finest we have seen to date and on top of that this antique also has a beautiful and rich patina. By the way, the bronze Mary statuette is not included in our price.
