About the Item

This is a Paldao Burled-Acacia and Glass Cabinet, designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller in 1940. This example dates to around the same time. It was produced in the USA, and was featured in Herman Miller's first showroom design. Rohde was Herman Miller's first design director, and his modernist vision for the company changed the face of Herman Miller forever. This cabinet is an example from the 80-piece collection, which centered around modular furniture in exotic veneers. The case top and sides are done in Paldao wood, and the sliding glass doors are framed by burled acacia. This cabinet measures 17 inches deep, 40 inches wide, and 42 inches high. This piece has been freshly refinished. There are some slight scratches and scuffs that remain, though overall, the piece is in very good condition. Please see photos.
