A large and impressive Art Deco Doulton Lambeth floral decorated presentation vase made by renowned artist Vera Huggins and dated 1938. The large stoneware vase stands on a narrow round skirted foot with a wide bulbous body with a pinched neck and short everted rim. The body of the vase is decorated around the upper body with incised repeat large floral blooms set within an incised shaped border. The flowers are hand painted in tones of pink, brown and green and set against a pale green mottled ground with the borders in brown and the lower vase decorated in streaked flow blue glazes. The pattern around the top incorporates the initials E.F. along with the date 21.9.38 and believe that this was a unique presentation piece for a special event. The vase has impressed makers marks to the base and is numbered 23024 and unusually has a full Vera Huggins signature (suggesting it may have been a personal gift from her) along with assistant marks for Winnie Bowstead...

An exceptional, impressive unique Cobridge pottery ruskin glazed vase by Anita Harris and glazed by Justin Emery and dating from around 2000. The large round bulbous stoneware vase stands on a round skirted base with a widening round body and short flared top rim. The body of the vase is decorated in high fired deep red glazes with green almost textured like markings and with a deep blue interior. The vase bears various impressed makers marks to the base and comes with an original Certificate of Authenticity recording this as a Trial Piece by Anita Harris and bearing her signature. The vase further has a red paper label from the Henry Sandon Collection sale at Mallams, Oxford on 23rd May 2012. It also has hand-written detail (probably by Sandon himself) reading ‘JUSTIN EMERY Cobridge stoneware...

Derived from the French word ‘chinois’ for Chinese, chinoiserie was a European style that was inspired by Chinese and East Asian art and design. These urns were crafted by Henri Journet & Cie, a French firm that specialised in the production of Fine onyx items. Henri Journet replaced Eugène Cornu as the director of the company, which was originally called the ‘Société des marbres d'onyx d'Algérie’. These vases are signed ‘Sté Des Onyx H. The vases feature bulbous bodies, with short waisted stems and necks, crafted from an orange-veined, cream onyx.
