European antique tarred wooden pot, 17th Century

About the Item

Obscure, this antique wooden pot covered in tar is full of wabi-sabi charm. With a distinctive flat handle adorning one side, the pot has an asymmetrical form of an unconventional elegance. The tar gives the pot a rough finish with areas of age and wear revealing the ancient wood underneath. It was possibly used as a pot for tar applying tar in shipping or roofing.
