Vintage Italian ceramic vase with geometric motif by Aldo Londi for Bitossi (circa 1960s). Discovered in North Central Italy, this particular piece has been well kept over the years. It has a decorative band around its centre with a geometric motif of concentric squares in turquoise. On either side top and bottom, etched circles follow the form of the piece. It is weighty with a slightly concave base with 'Italy' etched in the underside in that Bitossi 'font'. The adventure began in 1912 with two Decorative Arts enthusiasts:
Pierre Laguionie (1884-1978), director of “Printemps” Department Store and lawyer René Guilleré (1878-1931), founder of the Salon des Artistes Dé-corateurs.
Their objective is to promote the craft of Art in the daily life of the French people on the motto of the beautiful and the useful.

Made up in transparent amber glass with the upper rim accented by a stripe made up from blue pate d verre.
Soffiato
Glassblowing or Soffiato in Italian, is a glass forming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble with the aid of a blowpipe. A person who blows glass is called a glassblower, glassmith, or gaffer. The word come from soffietta, a tool used as a puffer to further inflate a vessel after it has been removed from the blowpipe and is attached to the pontil. It consists of a curved metal tube attached to a conical nozzle. The glassblower reheats the vessel, inserts the nozzle into its mouth so that the aperture is blocked, and then inflates the vessel by blowing through the tube.
