Art Deco Handrubbed Burled Walnut Nightstand by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller

About the Item

This elegant and understated nightstand was realized by Gilbert Rohde, one of the most celebrated and influential designers of the 20th century in the United States- in 1936. Handcrafted in Zeeland, Michigan, the piece features a volumetric rectangular body with a spacious open compartment below and a drawer above, all executed in burled hand rubbed walnut. The piece features streamlined pulls, also in walnut. Embodying Rohde's elegantly restrained design ethos, this piece is sure to delight collectors of first rate design objects. With its austere form and beautiful finishing, it would be an excellent addition to any style of interior from Classic deco to contemporary. It has been newly restored to mint condition. The piece retains its original label reading "Herman Miller Furniture Co. Zeeland Michigan Original Rohde Design." American, 1936 Dimensions: 27.25" H x 16" W x 13" D.
