Mod Rooster Drawing 1970s Pop Art Lithograph Hand Signed
Located in Surfside, FL
This listing is for just the one print in the photo here. there are three states of the same image image each with Progressively increasing detail and color. the edition size is 175. Hand signed, numbered and dated. on hand made French Arches paper. Bob (Robert) Stanley (1932-1997) was a painter, photographer and printmaker whose early work was figurative painting about contemporary American life. In the 1960s and early 1970s, he based his paintings on photographs, which he manipulated from black and white or silkscreen colored shapes. In the early 1960's, he began to base his paintings on images clipped from newspapers and magazines, following the example of Pop artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, who would become his brother-in-law. Enlarged and often simplified to two vibrant saturated colors Stanley's images could be reduced to the abstract or be powerfully explicit. His preferred subjects, including rock stars, athletes and pornography, always seemed to grate against the pretenses of high art. Similar in bold use of color to Malcolm Morley. In the late 1960's Mr. Stanley started using his own photographs, basing paintings on images of tree branches or the ground, and also using pictures of life-drawing models at the School of Visual Arts. Shepard Fairey "Sub-Standard" Silkscreen Print Street Contemporary Art Dove
Located in Draper, UT
"This print is a comment on the relationship between corporate greed, fossil fuels, and the warming of the planet and collapsing ecosystems. Standard operating, pushed by players like Standard Oil and its many offshoots, should be redefined as sub-standard. If we want to maintain the standard of health our planet needs to avoid catastrophe, we can't allow big oil to put profits before the planet and profits before people (as well as many other threatened species). Keep in mind that big oil, which is already very profitable, is subsidized by you, the taxpayer, for up to $50 billion per year. In contrast, renewable energy sources are subsidized for only a quarter of that amount. We need to push for change." -Shepard Fairey A portion of proceeds from this print went to Greenpeace USA. Materials: Fine Art Paper with Gold Metallic Inks Size: 24 × 12 in 61 × 30.5 cm Rarity: Limited edition Medium: Print Condition: Print is in pristine condition and has been stored flat since purchase. Rare Welcome Visitor Large Format Print Signed and Numbered with COA
Located in Draper, UT
The “Welcome Visitor” diptych is a thought-provoking exploration of the contradictions inherent in America's tourism industry and its immigration policies. Through this striking artwork, Shepard Fairey delves into the uncomfortable collision of economic opportunism and xenophobia. The piece reflects on the historical context of America as a melting pot, symbolized by the Ellis Island narrative and the hope of embracing diversity. However, it also draws attention to the contemporary climate of fear and scapegoating faced by Latino and Muslim communities. The diptych specifically highlights past events like the immigration ban and internment of Japanese individuals, including Japanese-American citizens during World War II, when unfounded fear led to prejudiced policies against them. Shepard Fairey skillfully uses this historical reference to shed light on the irrational and disproportionate fear. By contrasting the past with the present, Fairey aims to inspire contemplation and empathy, urging viewers to consider the humanity and dignity of all people as a paramount factor in shaping immigration and tourism policies. Shepard Fairey is a renowned contemporary artist and graphic designer whose work often explores political and social themes. Born on February 15, 1970, in Charleston, South Carolina, Fairey gained widespread recognition for his iconic "Hope" poster created during Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. His art has since become synonymous with activism and social commentary. Fairey's unique style combines elements of street art, pop culture, and political messaging, earning him a prominent place in the world of contemporary art. In addition to his prolific career as a visual artist, Shepard Fairey co-founded the design studio Studio Number One and the art collective BLK/MRKT Inc. He has exhibited his work in galleries and museums around the globe, leaving a lasting impact on the art world and beyond. Fairey's art continues to inspire dialogue and challenge societal norms, urging viewers to question and engage with the issues he addresses. Shepard Fairey's art is influenced by various sources, including street art, punk rock aesthetics, propaganda imagery, and political movements. He credits the DIY ethos of punk culture and the rebellious spirit of street art for shaping his artistic vision. Fairey's fascination with propaganda and political art from historical movements, such as Soviet Constructivism and Chinese Cultural Revolution...

Authentic Screen Prints and Multiples for Sale on 1stDibs

Original screen prints and other types of fine art prints can help enhance any room in your home while supporting your effort to tie an interior design together.

A screen print, also known as a silkscreen or serigraph, is made by cutting out pieces of paper (or textile) and placing them on a mesh sheath, or screen. With the help of a squeegee during the screen printing process, ink is forced through the uncovered areas of the mesh onto a sheet of paper. Each color must be screened separately.

Originally used in the commercial printing industry for advertising and packaging, screen printing is closely associated with the Pop aesthetic. Andy Warhol was the first artist to use the process to create art, and his silkscreens and other prints rank among the highest priced prints on the market.

For legendary Abstract Expressionist artist Jackson Pollock, printing was crucial to the evolution of his abstraction. It was several years after he printed wild constellations of blobs and squiggles, using a small printing screen that he acquired during a brief stint at a silkscreen workshop, that he began splattering canvases with similar abstract imagery.

For Jasper Johns, recognized as one of the most innovative, masterful print artists of all time, printmaking was ideal for exploring the ideas of repetition, seriality, patterning, semiotics, order and symbolism that intrigued him. His crosshatch prints (and paintings, for that matter) are a wonderful reference to the engraving process but also a brilliant conceptual update of Abstract Expressionist brushstroke, which Johns subverted again and again.

Remember, when it comes to arranging your screen prints and other wall art, hanging isn’t the only way to display your artworks. You can stand framed pieces and stretched canvases on an easel, a mantelpiece, floating shelves or on the floor leaning against a wall. This creates a casual look and also allows you to change your arrangements more easily and without damaging the wall.
