The New Elegance: Stylish, Comfortable Rooms for Today
Located in New York, NY
AD100 and Elle Decor A-List designer Timothy Corrigan shares his secrets for creating rooms that are elegant and comfortable, luxurious yet livable. Throughout his career, Corrigan has established a look that is layered and detailed, while always suitable for the way people live today. His distinctive approach encompasses practicality as well as beauty, merging European refinement with California comfort. Here, Corrigan shares homes in which he has defined a new contemporary elegance, including a John Fowler-inspired London townhouse, a Hollywood Regency-inspired Los Angeles Colonial, an art-filled Chicago apartment in the sky, and Corrigan's own Paris pied-à-terre. Corrigan includes advice throughout on how to adapt classic design principles and traditional forms to make them work for busy modern lives. Between each chapter are instructive interludes in which Corrigan outlines the building blocks of successful decoration, with fundamental topics such as scale and proportion, symmetry, architectural details, and working with color. About The Author Timothy Corrigan has been named to virtually every list of the world's best designers and is the only American designer honored by the French Heritage Society for his restoration of several national landmarks in France. The work of his firm has been featured in over 1,000 prestigious publications. In addition, Corrigan has designed successful licensed collections with several partners, including Schumacher, Perennials, Fromental, Royal Limoges, THG Paris...

Living with Chamberlain, Art in Residence (Special Edition)
Located in NEW YORK, NY
Discover a masterpiece of artistry and craftsmanship with this special edition of Living with Chamberlain—a must-have for discerning collectors. Limited to just 200 copies, each edition is truly an artwork in its own right, featuring a one-of-a-kind sculptural element crafted with repurposed metals sourced directly from Chamberlain's studio, along with a rare 1990 limited-edition print by the artist. Presented in a luxurious clamshell case, this edition is a rare and exceptional tribute to Chamberlain’s enduring legacy. More than a book, it is a collectible object—bold, tactile, and deeply connected to the spirit of the artist himself. Featuring a foreword by Rick Owens, and interviews and conversations with family, friends, gallerists, and collectors, this intimate and personal volume uncovers how Chamberlain’s art has impacted the lives of so many, including personalities as diverse as Chamberlain’s wide-ranging artistic expressions. Among the many stories contained, collectors Bruce and Barbara Berger recount how they traded a refrigerator for their Chamberlain sculpture in 1972; Yvonne Force Villareal shares how she met her husband, artist Leo Villareal, at an exhibition of Chamberlain couches; fashion designer Matthew Williams and artist Solange Knowles speak about their separate experiences with Chamberlain’s art and his creative influence on their own work; and fashion designer Vera Wang shares how a chance encounter at MoMA led to an unusual late-life friendship with the artist. Contributors include: Amy Astley; Joa Baldinger and Heiner Friedrich; Bruce and Barbara Berger; Darius and Jill Bikoff; Michael Black; David, Lauren and Sean Carpenter; Susan Davidson; Karen, Steven and Zoë Feldman; Urs Fischer; Larry Gagosian; Bob Gersh; Andrea Glimcher; Marc Glimcher; Eric Goodman; Jeff and Judy Greenstein; Karsten Greve; Wilhelm and Jutta Grusdat; Lana Jokel; Rainer Judd; Colin King; Solange Knowles; Bernard and Joanne Kruger; Nancy Magoon; Helen Marden...

Frank Lloyd Wright American Architect of the Twentieth Century Book 1st Ed.1993
Located in North Hollywood, CA
Frank Lloyd Wright American Architect of the Twentieth century 1993. by Robin Langley Sommer. 1st Edition, hardcover book. Frank Lloyd Wright: American Architect for the Twentieth Century Hardcover book. Frank Lloyd Wright is recognized as a dominant figure in the history of modern architecture. His life and revolutionary work is described in this volume filled with more than 180 photographs illustrating 60 of his most-beloved buildings. An impressive, beautifully illustrated volume examines the creations of America's beloved architect, including interior furnishings, stunning private homes, and unique public buildings, with an introduction providing insight into his private life as well as his enduring work. Publisher ? : ? Smithmark Pub Language ? : ? English Item Weight ? : ? 3.6 pounds Dimensions ? : ? 11 x 0.75 x 14.75 inches. Recognized as a dominant figure in the history of modern architecture and the greatest design influenced in the United States during the first half of the twentieth century, Frank Lloyd Wright created, during his long and prolific career, a unique body of work that endures to this day. Beginning in 1889 with the design for his own house in Oak Park, Illinois, and continuing with hundreds of designs for residential, commercial, ecclesiastical, educational and civic structures, Wright's varied architecture is unified only by the underlying organized principles of change and innovation. Revolutionizing residential architecture with the disparate expressions of his simple creed, "out of the ground and into the light! Wright's houses feature a sense of unity and privacy, an a free flow of interior space. Wright sought synthesis in his projects by designing whenever possible, everything from furniture, art glass and lighting fixtures to table lines, carpets and carports. In his Prairies Houses, textile-block structures and Usonian houses, culminating in his masterpiece, Fallingwater, Wright experimented with forms, materials and technology in ever-evolving designs. Wright designed such ambitious commercial masterworks as the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, the S.C. Johnson and Son Administration Building and Research Tower, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum-the alter for which he is perhaps best known. This volume pays tribute to the life and works of frank Lloyd Wright with more than 180 photographs illustrating 60 selected buildings, complemented by a descriptive and incisive text. Front cover: Fallinger, the Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr. House (1935) in Mill Run, Pennsylvania. Photographer for The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. Back Cover: The Solomon R. Antique and Vintage Books

Antique and vintage books add a sense of culture and style to any room. Displaying these types of books in your living room or reading nook can warm a space with a distinguished feel.

Several factors make antique books highly desirable. Original jackets, ornate binding, illustrations and quality of the print all contribute to making a vintage book special. Rare books are of great interest to collectors in the know and can command high prices at auction. In 2021, an important early artist book by Andy Warhol sold at auction for more than $106,000. Somewhere between all the commercial work he did as an ambitious young graphic designer in the early 1950s and his first real debut as a Pop artist a decade later, Warhol produced a trove of incredibly charming drawings. His illustrated self-published artist books from the 1950s are very rare.

Many collectors seek the first edition of certain books. Fewer copies of a book and higher demand make it a rare find. A book that contains the author’s signature also makes it much more prized than other examples of the same title.

Collectors and designers decorate rooms with vintage books for a cozy feeling in a home. Coffee-table books, such as those featuring photography and design, serve as conversation pieces or offer a relaxing moment when leafed through.

Interior designers look for vintage books when they want to add color or detail. For instance, leather-bound books can create a scholarly air while mid-century titles offer a modern edge. Vintage international books or first editions can provide a sense of history.

No matter the genre, there is a book for you. You can find rare, one-of-a-kind antique books on 1stDibs. Browse by authors, like celebrated architect and designer Frank Lloyd Wright and Edgar Rice Burroughs, as well as by period, including mid-century modern, Art Deco and Victorian.
