The Shanty Cabinet is inspired by the patchwork of corrugated steel sheets which are used to construct many temporary or provisional homes, which exist in the whole world. Its beauty lies in imperfection. This spontaneous composition of superimposed surfaces in different colours is recreated with a wavy front. Its body has an assymetrical volume and each door opens differently. The buffet is manufactured from MDF fibreboard with a lacquered matte finish. They have been developing a technique for various years in their Stockholm based studio, bapitising and registering it as Wood TailoringTM, which includes the use of sewing machines directly over hard materials like wood. The created patterns carry an aesthetic value and offer surprising and suggestive results much the same as the Couture armchair. Using the same technique which requires much artisanal ability, Färg & Blanche have also launched a very functional cabinet with simple decorations.
