Reclaiming simple materials and basic shapes, with an eye to architecture and mountain life, led to the creation of two historic design low table-stools inspired respectively by the milking stool used by mountain shepherds in the French town much loved by the author.
Placed individually or in lively arrangements, the two low tables bring the pleasing lightness of solid wood to indoor settings emphasized by the continuity of the grain between the top and the edges and the countless natural variations in the wood.
Each piece is made of unique solid wood, so every piece will be different from one another and not exactly as the one on the photos.
Both pieces are inspired by the mountains. While the latter takes its name from the milking-stool used by alpine shepherds, the former is inspired by the French locality much loved by designer and architect Charlotte Perriand. These furnishing accessories stand out for the honesty of their simple shapes and for the concrete expression of their materials and function. This desk is a one off piece designed and fabricated by Joe Ellwood in North London. Each of our pieces is hand made, therefore slight variation from object to object can be expected.
Six Dots designs and makes bespoke furniture in North London. We want everyone to have uniqueness and joy in their home, our whimsical, fun furniture and homeware is sustainable, artisan made and like nothing else on the market.
We sell a range of products as well as providing design and fabrication services for private clients, interior designers and commercial spaces.
For too long exciting, design led pieces of furniture been locked away in galleries, reserved for the world’s elite. At Six Dots we want all homes to have vibrant and unique work that reflects our individual personalities and preferences. We strive to keep our prices fair for the consumer and the maker.
Everything we sell is made in our North London workshop. We are passionate about relocalising the production of the goods we consume. When we make locally we can create a better dialogue between the people who make and the people who buy. When we create this dialogue we can ensure that the products are made sustainably and ethically and help consumers recognise the true value of the objects that surround us.
