Vintage American Hooked Rug in Fruit Blocks Pattern
Located in Barrington, IL
Vintage American hand hooked area rug in a fruit block pattern circa the early 20th century. The very unique and beautiful design in this vintage folk art hooked rug consists of a 5 x 3 block pattern each containing the design of a different fruit. The design is set on a tan color background with a green and brown border for the rug and blocks. The colors for the fruit in each block are vibrant and make them stand out. Beautiful piece of Americana folk art to be used as a table top display or a wall art. The hooked rugs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are made with recycled old material, often used clothing that had been cut into narrow stripes. The foundation of hooked rugs is generally burlap material which the maker uses the stenciling technique to transfer the pattern into the surface. Once the design has been transferred to burlap, it would then be filled with the recycled material stripes and more recently yarn using the hooking technique. The use of special design and the brilliant colors makes this truly an artistic piece wonderful to be used as a wall art or displayed on a table. Antique Hooked Rugs are a combination of Folk Art Creativity and Simplicity. Dimensions: 28” x 45” Date of Manufacture: Early 20th Century Place of Origin: United States Material: Wool and cotton on a burlap foundation Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, some edge wear The Persian Knot, SKU: 2210 Vintage Fruit Pattern...

Antique Heriz Carpet, Persia
Located in Evanston, IL
The madder red field with unusual all-over design featuring bold poly chrome palmettos linked in a trellis by blue dragon-like motifs, all within a wide deep blue flower-head and leaf main border. This rug consist of central medallions surrounded by four other nor similar medallions that incorporate a garden design, the design on top of field is not symmetrical to the bottom of the field. The rug frame geometric design is similar to the one shown in the medallions. Heriz carpets are durable and hard-wearing and they can last for generations. Part of the reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that these rugs were made in the area of Mount Sabalan which contains a major deposit of copper. Traces of copper in the drinking water of sheep produces high quality wool that is far more resilient than wool from other areas. Heriz rug weavers often make them in geometric, bold patterns with a large medallion dominating the field or they are all-over design. Such designs are traditional and often woven from memory. Heriz rugs are of coarse construction. The rugs range from 30 kpsi on the low end to 100–10 kpsi on the high end. It is rare to see a rug over 100 kpsi that would look like an authentic Heriz unless it is an antique silk Heriz.

Vintage Native American Navajo Storm Pattern Area Rug in Gray, Ivory, Red, Black
Located in Barrington, IL
An exceptional example of early 20th-century Native American textile art, this finely woven Navajo rug—circa 1920–1930—features the iconic Storm Pattern, a design rich with spiritual and cultural symbolism. Originating from the American Southwest, this piece reflects the high artistry of one of the most respected Navajo weaving families, celebrated for their technical mastery and innovative color work. Woven in wool with a likely cotton foundation, this flat-weave rug presents a refined and balanced palette of soft gray, deep black, ivory, and bold red. The Storm Warrior motif is rendered with remarkable clarity and symmetry, imbuing the rug with a strong visual rhythm and narrative depth. The interplay of color and form creates a powerful presence, making it a standout piece for collectors and connoisseurs of Indigenous American art. Natural, plant- and mineral-based dyes lend authenticity and subtle tonal variation, in keeping with traditional Navajo practices that emphasize harmony with the surrounding landscape. The geometric designs—more than mere decoration—carry profound cultural and spiritual meanings, often relating to protection, life paths, and the interconnectedness of nature. This rug is not only a decorative statement but a museum-quality artifact that honors the legacy of Navajo weaving and the enduring strength of Indigenous craftsmanship. Extremely Fine Weave Persian Nain Habibian in Floral Pattern with Silk Highlight
Located in Barrington, IL
This extremely fine hand knotted Persian Nain rug, crafted in the 4th quarter of the 1900s, is an exquisite example of the artistry and precision for which Habibian-signed Nain rugs are globally celebrated. Known for their exceptionally high knot count and elegant aesthetic, Habibian rugs are among the most collectible in Persian weaving. Set on a soft ivory background with a graceful pale tan border, this rug features a flowing floral design with accent colors in French blue, pale brown, and ivory.
