Wonderful example of Persian "Ziegler" Mahal Sultanabad rugs from the late 1800s in a dark blue field and a white wide border filled with large geometric and floral forms. The rug has an all-over design pattern which Ziegler rugs are known for. The renowned Ziegler company had set up operations in the 19th century in Persia to create its own special design and colors intended for the European markets. It excelled in all the steps including acquiring the best wool and use of vegetable dyes in addition to contracting some of the best weavers to create wonderful rugs.

Larger design forms of branches and leaves are scattered throughout the field and the border of this wonderful Oushak rug. The colors in the field include turquoise blue, green, and brown. The border is in light chocolate brown with designs in turquoise blue, green, and cream throughout. The Oushak has a full pile and is in a wonderful condition.

Vintage Persian Qashqai(Ghashghai) tribal carpet from Southwestern Persia circa the mid 1900s. The Qashqai rug has a traditional tribal design format which includes one central medallion and four small medallions in the corner spandrels. It has a red field color with a central medallion in dark blue. The corner spandrels design shows a small medallion in ivory. The Qashqai tribes use vegetable dyes (except the orange color) with all wool material in their weavings.
