Antique Persian Kermanshah/Laver Carpet, c-1880's, A sign rug
Located in Evanston, IL
Discover the allure of the Kermanshah or Laver Kerman rug, a Southeast Persian treasure that captures a pictorial narrative of the Qajar kingdom. These rugs originate from a rich tradition dating back to the 16th century Safavid dynasty, marking Kerman as a significant Persian rug weaving center, alongside Tabriz and Kashan. Laver Kirman antique Persian rugs are distinguished by their uniquely soft and delicate color palette, infused with a European elegance. Crafted during the late 19th century, this 10'10" x 15'4" beauty showcases a central medallion adorned with a harmonious array of multi-colors, creating a versatile piece suitable for various rooms. Signed by order of Tashian Bakhtiar. In fair condition considering its age, this Kermanshah carpet exhibits wear consistent with its historical use. Owning a Laver Kirman rug...

Vintage American Hooked Rug in Fruit Blocks Pattern
Located in Barrington, IL
Vintage American hand hooked area rug in a fruit block pattern circa the early 20th century. The very unique and beautiful design in this vintage folk art hooked rug consists of a 5 x 3 block pattern each containing the design of a different fruit. The design is set on a tan color background with a green and brown border for the rug and blocks. The colors for the fruit in each block are vibrant and make them stand out. Beautiful piece of Americana folk art to be used as a table top display or a wall art. The hooked rugs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are made with recycled old material, often used clothing that had been cut into narrow stripes. The foundation of hooked rugs is generally burlap material which the maker uses the stenciling technique to transfer the pattern into the surface. Once the design has been transferred to burlap, it would then be filled with the recycled material stripes and more recently yarn using the hooking technique. The use of special design and the brilliant colors makes this truly an artistic piece wonderful to be used as a wall art or displayed on a table. Antique Hooked Rugs are a combination of Folk Art Creativity and Simplicity. Dimensions: 28” x 45” Date of Manufacture: Early 20th Century Place of Origin: United States Material: Wool and cotton on a burlap foundation Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, some edge wear The Persian Knot, SKU: 2210 Vintage Fruit Pattern...
