Are after paintings worth anything?
1 Answer
Some after paintings may be worth money. An after-painting is a copy of an original produced by a different artist. Generally, after paintings are worth less than originals. However, pieces made by pupils or assistants of the original artists may have some value. Those made by unrelated later artists are less likely to fetch high selling prices. To find out the estimated fair market value of a particular after-painting, consult a certified appraiser or experienced art dealer. Find a large collection of paintings on 1stDibs.
