How do I clean a coal scuttle?
To clean a coal scuttle properly, you will need to know what material it is. For copper, apply salt to half a lemon and rub down all surfaces. Then, rinse the scuttle with warm water and dry it with a soft cloth. Remove dirt from a brass scuttle using a paste of baking soda and white vinegar. Apply a thin layer all over and let it rest for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Dry it with a soft cloth to finish the job. You'll find a range of coal scuttles on 1stDibs.
