What does two tone gold mean?

Gold used in jewelry comes in 3 colors: white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold. If a piece is made with two-tone gold, this means that a combination of any of the three colors is used to make the jewelry. For example, a ring could have white gold prongs and basket, set in a yellow gold band. This is considered two-tone gold as two colors were used in the ring.
