What is a circular painting called?

A circular painting is called a "tondo" (from the Italian "rotondo", round). The word is used mainly for large artworks. Tiny round paintings may be called "medallions".

"Tondo" is a circular picture or painting. A renaissance term for a circular painting coming from the Italian "rotunda", round. Can also be called a roundel.
