What is Hobo art called?

1 Answer
What is Hobo art called?
Hobo art is sometimes called Tramp art. However, you will also see the term Hobo art used to describe these intricately carved pieces that originated during the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the United States. Due to these names, many people believe that itinerant people produced Hobo art while sitting around campfires, but this was not usually the case. Most Hobo art was likely made by German and Scandinavian trade apprentices who were traveling to the United States to receive training from master craftsmen. The carvings were a good way to pass the time during these long journeys. Shop a variety of wood art on 1stDibs.
