What was Augusta Savage famous for?

Augusta Savage was famous for her work as a sculptor. Savage depicted Black Americans in a dignified manner, elevating her subjects, who had often been portrayed through stereotypes by white artists. She also produced pieces that celebrated African history and culture. Savage was a key figure in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and ’30s.
