What was Donatello's first sculpture?
1 Answer

Donatello's first sculpture was a marble sculpture of the biblical figure David, produced around 1408 or 1409. The piece is part of the collection of the Museo Nazionale del Bargello in Florence, Italy. Later in his career, sometime in the 1440s, Donatello depicted the subject again, this time in bronze. This sculpture is also now in the Bargello Museum. Find a large collection of sculptures on 1stDibs.
