When was the first locket made?

No one knows for sure when the very first locket was made, but 16th-century examples have been found. After the execution of Charles I in 1649, people wore lockets that contained miniature portraits of the king, and by the 18th century, it was fashionable to wear lockets that contained locks of hair from someone you admired.
