Why is Peter Blake famous?

Peter Blake is famous because he was instrumental in the development of a major 20th-century art movement. Specifically, he is widely regarded as the “godfather of British Pop art.” Blake created paintings, collages and prints that blend modernity and nostalgia. While best known now for designing the album cover for the Beatles’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, he considered painting to be central to his oeuvre.
