"The location of 'Corot's View' is the island of San Bartolommeo on the Tiber River north of Rome. The encaustic painting is an approximate impression of Corot's prominent painting produced on this site in 1828. The painting within the two arched window areas are a combination of oil painting and encaustic. The large frame area surrounding the enclosed work is pure encaustic (material utilizing pigments and a beeswax/varnish mix). The texture and color simulate the local stone found in this region." --Doug Smith
