Antique Shawls

Gorgeous embroidered silk Chinese export shawl that is from the twenties. It is a spectacular black on black embroidered design of flowers and birds done in a satin stitch.

Narrow strips of metal are handwoven into open-work mesh cloth. This particular shawl is in excellent condition, has an all over pattern of geometric shapes.

The European shawls were fashioned after the shawls of Kashmir that took two to three years to weave.
