Mid-Century Modern designers — as well as those associated with
Modern — is very popular. A well-made bustamante duck has long been a part of the offerings for many furniture designers and manufacturers, but those produced by
Sergio Bustamante are consistently popular.
Sergio Bustamante studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara, and sold his artwork while in school, beginning in 1960. After graduating, he worked with local ceramicists, eventually opening his studio. In 1972, Bustamante moved to Amsterdam, where he learned more about painting and design. In 1975, he established his Family Workshop Studio in Tiaquepaque, Mexico. His monumental sculptures can be found in several cities, including Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, and Tiaquepaque.
