Nexus is a Latin word meaning “weave”, and strips of woven leather are featured in the prominent headboard of this bed, which on its own could furnish an entire bedroom. Even more: it can turn it into a veritable scenographic backdrop.
Though oversized, the headboard is also essential. The original choice of saddle leather gives this piece a strong, distinctive personality. The weave highlights the three-dimensionality of its surface, making it almost vibrant. This effect is accentuated by the contrasting colored edge detail on the strips.
In an era in which, due not only to Covid, our relationships are growing ever more virtual and remote, Casa Casati wishes to rediscover the language of materials, the pleasure of physicality, the taste for tactile experiences. And the bedroom – a haven and love nest – is the perfect stage on which to embark on this sensorial journey.
The Nexus headboard was made to be touched, yet with its ancestral scent of leather, a natural material par excellence, it also stimulates the sense of smell. There is little room for anything else: lights, a pair of nightstands, perhaps a dressing table or a small bureau. Even the sommier discreetly places itself at the service of Her Majesty the headboard, extending to its feet in a simple linen dressing not given to animated shades.
In the Nexus, the strips of leather are woven over a wooden structure visible only at the corners of the headboard. There is a choice of stained ash, ebony and walnut, each available in both glossy and matt. The leather comes in five colors, the edge-detail in two (dark brown or Casa Casati’s signature orange), offering many different possibilities to personalize this original item of furniture.
The headboard comes in four sizes (364 cm x 130 cm, 234 x 130, 234 x 182 and 208 x 182). Casa Casati also could provide a sommier that can be created for either European mattress...
