Oliver Sundqvist and Frederik Nystrup Larsen Contemporary Colorful Chair, 2021

By Oliver Sundqvist and Frederik Nystrup Larsen

Located in Barcelona, ES

Chair model "Private Parking" From the "Kiki Beach Club" series Contemporary Design Manufactured by Oliver Sundqvist and Frederik Nystrup Larsen Copenhagen (Denmark), 2021 Fiber glass, acrylic, lacquer Measurements: 70 cm x 45 cm x 71 H cm 27.55 in × 17.71 in × 27.95 H in Edition Unique piece The creative duo of Frederik Nystrup-Larsen (b.1992 Copenhagen) and Oliver Sundqvist (b.1991 Copenhagen) has proven to be a partnership that continuously questions the current state of contemporary art. Working on the boundary of art and design, the pair have reinterpreted the processes of consumerism, illustrating critique on overconsumption and poor manufacturing. Intellectually and physically dependent on regular variation and change'Mater’, (meaning mother in Latin), the first collective project between Oliver and Frederik, was a vase originally created as a Christmas present for their mother. The vase was used for the interiors of Norma, a Copenhagen restaurant that is often referred to as the best restaurant in the world. Since ‘Mater’, the duo have continued focusing on creating unique and collectible objects, with a central focus on longevity. The pair seek to ignite a feeling of responsibility in people, through the creations of thoughtful and sustainable pieces. A lot of their work questions the surrounding world, inspired by characters who challenge established understandings of and structures within this world, the duo look towards multiple disciplines to fuel their creativity. Equally as original as their final products, is their method. Triggered by beauty and decay, their creative process is split into phases, - initially, they spend a lot of time reflecting, not stressing about it. Being slow, taking actions that do not related to the project or practice. The following phase; the physical execution of the idea, is built on intuition and (often an unhealthy) tempo. Stress is welcome as we work like machines, brains left aside. The designers split their time between Copenhagen and London and have exhibited at Art Basel, as well as at two solo shows before they had even finished school. The pair are currently working as NIKO JUNE...

"Composizione 40100 #02" (In crescendo), 2019, glazed earthenware, measures: H 47 x 30 x 30cm Andrea Salvatori (Italy, 1975) is an internationally renowned visual artist working with the ceramic medium to realize often ironic and witty sculptures, sometimes involving a diverse selection of found objects, such as Murano glass vases, Meissen Porcelain miniatures or Ginori period ceramics sourced in flea markets around Europe. Salvatori’s works often begin with these items and proceed by the addition of elements masterfully created by the artist, generating an unexpected semantic shift. The result is unique, encompassing pop culture and kitsch aesthetics: a witty and effective way to turn reality upside-down and at the same time a powerful combination of exquisite craftsmanship and genuine irony. Andrea Salvatori was born on 3 of March 1975 in Faenza (Ra), Italy; he has graduated at the Istituto d’arte for Ceramic in Faenza in 1995, and he then graduated with a Degree in Sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Bologna in 2000. During his studies, Andrea learned the secrets of ceramics from the creative duo Bertozzi & Casoni having worked as an apprentice in their studio for many years at the same way as during Renaissance artists learned their practice with their Masters. Since 1997 he had several individual and collective exhibitions. In 2009 he won the first prize at the 56th edition of the prestigious Premio Faenza, the International Contest of Contemporary Art Ceramics, for which he classified second in the prior edition. In 2011 he classified second at the Sidney Myer Fund Australian Ceramic...

By Dessie Studio

Located in Brooklyn, NY

"Scomodino" is a wooden C-shaped side table, designed by Dessie' Studio and manufactured by Dessie', provided with one drawer and adjustable feet and finished in natural oak, natural wenge, Santos rosewood or walnut. Indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: D. 15.7", W. 15.7", H. 19.7" DESSIE' company's mission is putting a contemporary spin on the old tradition of cabinet-making, in order to offer pieces of furniture ready to get people excited and to satisfy aesthetic and functional values of the contemporary way of living. Dessie' was started during 1990s and now proposes a collection of pieces of furniture inviting to discover a sophisticated and elegant design, an unique style where different influences merge, and to re-create a simple and refined design atmosphere for unconventional people who are freely looking for essential and high quality pieces. A collection, including tables, small tables, writing desks, console tables, bedside tables, chairs, bookcases, dressers, cabinets, cupboards, upholstered pieces of furniture and lamps, which was created having in mind an essential style and a careful attention to recent trends. Harmony of forms and care for high quality and rational design, attentively studying any detail, are some of key features of production by Dessie', which has been always reworking the legacy from the tradition by means of a strongly contemporary design language. The aim is to create a forward-looking style which anyway doesn't lose the value of the past as a main feature, in order to give any setting an original charme, indifferent to passing fads. Hence here's a formal language which uninterruptedly takes care of details and precious finishes, while experimenting expressive capabilities of the best materials: precious woods, steel, leather, natural fibers, etc. Flexibility and possibility of customizing any piece in order to offer a "tailor-made" production is one of key design criteria followed by Dessie'. Dessie' established a close cooperation with some famous international designers, like the Catalan Jaime Tresserra, who designed "Tecnica" collection. Besides its own production, Dessie' has been taking the assignment of selecting products by some Spanish companies (Andreu World, Carpyen, Dae, Indecasa, Mobles 114, Punt Mobles...
