Adolph Brougier Art
German, 1870-1926
Adolph Brougier was born on September 23, 1870, in Stuttgart. He was the son of a German merchant whose family was of French origin. Brougier studied art for three years in Munich and later spent a year in Paris, where he studied under Benjamin Constant and Bouguereau. From there, he went to Rome, where he also took up sculpture. Settling down in Munich, Brougier became a member of the Ktinster Genossenschaft and Luitpoldgruppe. He lived in England from 1901. Brougier exhibited at Munich, Berlin, Salon at Paris and Royal Academy. He was a figure and landscape painter and had a membership for the Royal Society of British Artists. Besides painting, Brougier liked fishing, bicycling and mountain climbing.

Important and historical painting titled, "Cornish Harbor With Boats" by Royal Academy of British Artists member Adolph M. Brougier (German, 1870-1926). Brougier exhibited at the 100th anniversary of the Reign of Queen Victoria Exhibition of 1911. Signed lower left corner "Brougier." Label on verso: "No 278, Adolph Brougier, RBA.
