A superb belle époque oil on panel circa 1900 by Albert Guillaume depicting two lovers in an interior. The exquisite expressions on each of the figures faces each tells a story of what is evolving between them. The artists work is highly sought after and this is a beautiful example. Signed lower left.

Albert Guillaume was the son of the architect Edmond Guillaume, and brother of Henri Guillaume (also an architect). He was a pupil of Jean Léon Gérôme, and exhibited in Paris with the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Humoristes. He was awarded a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900.
