The melodic whistle kettle 9091 is the second product designed by Sapper for Alessi, published in 1983, a poly-sensory object, that is to say, using more sense than normally do kettles. Richard Sapper wanted her to speak to hearing as well. We got this by introducing into the whistle "choristers", those little tubes that we use to tune musical instruments, reports Alberto Alessi, the house manager. To the materialistic function of boiling water is added the poetic aspect of the melody coming out of the whistle. This one is one of the first published, it dates from the mid-80s.
