Andres Conde Art

Cuban, b. 1968
Andres Conde was uprooted from Havana as a child, and brought to New York via Madrid in 1979. The family eventually settled in Miami. The contrasts in art and architecture between Havana and Madrid, Madrid and New York, then New York and Miami had enormous visual and creative impact on the young man, and can be seen in his work. His first paintings on canvas were oriented toward pop, highlighting Conde's penchant for graphic and commercial art. The most notable series of which, "Pop Revolution : When the image outlives the ideology" was a political statement on the state of affairs in Cuba, "...the image...", referred to is the omnipresent image of Ernesto Che Guevara. Conde featured the Argentinian mercenary splashed with blood, covered with quotes by José Martí, (the father of Cuban independence) in graffiti, or in the case of the painting "Siete Años Para El Che" (Seven Years for Che), the well known image of Guevara was created with the handwritten names of the prisons and work camps were Conde's father was held for seven years. The shift from the angry political to the lush feminine divine so prevalent in Conde’s later works was precipitated by a meeting with Itzchak Tarkay at Conde's studio in Miami in 1997. Tarkay, well known painter of women and Hungarian born Holocaust survivor, asked Conde why he painted such images. Conde responded, “…because I’m angry.” Tarkay, nodded his head and smiled. “Paint something beautiful, paint your wife.” This conversation sparked a change in Conde’s approach to subject matter. “I persist in reimagining a past that never was or obsessively trying to capture the beauty of God’s most perfect creation, it is complete insanity.” — ANDRES CONDE With his series "SOCIAL", Conde is painting something beautiful and something political. The artist is in the process of creating 240 new covers for the iconic Cuban magazine which closed in 1938. SOCIAL magazine, was the "Vanity Fair" of Cuba. He has reopened the magazine, in his imagination, and is running it from 1939 through the date of the revolution in 1959, when he will symbolically close the doors of the magazine again. The artist has become best known for his paintings of women; his subjects often reflecting both strength and vulnerability at once. His fascination with women goes beyond the sensual; he holds women in higher esteem than men generally. In his series, “ Días de Un Futuro Pasado”, (Days of A Future Past), Conde often depicts celebrations locked somewhere in time between the 1930’s and the 1950’s. The viewers eye is drawn to the women in the scene as they are always the focus. The men exist, but are never quite as finely articulated. Conde lives and works in Natchez, Mississippi. His work can be found in collections across North and South America, France, Germany and Haiti.

"Hello Dean" (James Dean) Pop Art Painting 67 x 54 inch by John Paul Fauves From "Alts iz farloyrn" ("All is lost") series 2019 Mixed media, acrylic and oil on canvas 63" × 53" inch "Alts iz farloyrn" ("All is lost") "Alts iz Farloyrn” – the latest series by John Paul Fauves featuring large-scale mixed media paintings, sculptures, and his famous art masks. Inspired by American idols James Dean and Steve McQueen, "Alts iz Farloyrn,” which translates to "All is Lost," was Steve McQueen’s first ever line on stage and represents Fauves own struggle with losing it all yet discovering his true self. “Alts iz Farloyrn” dives deep into the darkness that surrounded James Dean and Steve McQueen and explores their need to live fast. Through this new series, viewers are reminded that although both men overcame challenges to become the Hollywood elite, they struggled to mentally escape their troubled childhood and demons. Recognized internationally for his Neo-Pop Expressionism, Fauves paintings deal with identity through art, mainstream culture and social media. About this series, Fauves says “I have personally lost it all and what I’ve learned is when you lose it all you can win it all again and create a new beginning!” ABOUT John Paul FAUVES: John Paul Fauves (born in 1980) is a contemporary Artist from Costa Rica . His artistic journey started at a very young age after he became a student of Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso , one of the most important Costa Rican modern art tutors. John Paul spent 15 years studying and mastering his technique, and only a few years ago he finally started showcasing his work. In his paintings he engages questions of identity as they relate to art history as well as our everyday interactions with mainstream culture and social media. Greatly inspired by modernist masters as wellas pop-artists, Fauves mixes fragments of different iconic images in vivid and colourful compositions. Of his experimental and high eclectic style, he says, “art is an expression from the soul, and the soul is somethinglimitless. This is why I am always searching for different elements to bring into the work.” 2019: Alts Iz farloyrn, Los Angeles, CA Portraits of Someone, London 2018: [ Mi / Me ] solo exhibition at DOPENESS ART LAB, Taipei, Taiwan Arte de La Peer Papi Chulo group exhibition, Krause gallery, NYC Down the Rabbit Hole group exhibition, Imitate London, London, UK ARCO Madrid Art Palm Beach, Miami 2017: Art Basel Miami PIXELS Pre-Basel group exhibition by JM Art Management at Laurent & Martin gallery LA Style Fashion week FACES, group exhibition by JM Art Management at HOMME gallery A Loss of Innocence, solo exhibition Guy Hepner...

19th century English Antique Victorian Summertime Harvest landscape, with figures. John Mundell was a British painter of landscapes as well as river scenes and coastal views. It is suggested that Mundell was a pseudonym of John James Wilson. Mundell’s work was vigorous, bright, and attractive and compares favorably with the work of many of the better artists of his time. This is a very fine example of the artist's work. It is a rare composition for the artist as he mostly painted marines. This piece is framed in its original antique gold leaf frame
