Anita Kapraljevic Paintings

Croatian
Drawing is the path in which Anita Kapraljevic subconsciously encounter new image ideas. Another approach of finding image motives, is through research in art history. In Anita Kapraljevic paintings, the overlapping of signs, times and spaces is somewhat inspired by dreams. She works with a layering technique in which color is laid out and my style merges figuration and abstraction. New ideas emerging from a seemingly arbitrary combination of different contents: found pictorial materials, inspiration from reading ,experiencing and dreaming. Every new place, that Anita Kapraljevic work in, influences her creative process in ways that are unpredictable. From the experience and its processing, new images and ideas emerge for presentation. She work in the media drawing, painting, social sculpture and happening. In painting, she focus on figuration, portraying and the unconscious side of the human psyche. In order to broaden the boundaries of painting and make them tangible for others in their creative process, she merge performance and painting. For example, she portrayed the visitors of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in a copy of the "Last Judgment" by Hironymus Bosch 2012 and 2014. Anita Kapraljevic has developed a Multimedia Performance for the closing of the Festival of Literature and Urbanisam in devided City of Europe „Re-writing the Map“ which took place 2019 in Literarisches Colloquium Berlin - a founding program of the german goverment for culture Projekts in Berlin - the Performance under the Titel „Nothing comes closer“ was a audiovisuel allegory of humans lives marked by borders and conflicts with a glimp of hope for possible reconciliation. The piece showed painting as a process highlighting it‘s performativ potential a prominent aspect in other collaborative works of the Artist. Working with Anita Kapraljevic, she is passionate about her work, Open for dialogue and skilled enough to realize her unique and creative way. Bomb Gallery is an international artist collective founded by Anita Kapraljevic, Aleksandar Nesic and Friederike Ruff as social sculpture. 2014 they organize exhibitions in a bombed out building in Mostar Bosnia Herzegowina. 2015 Bomb Gallery take place in Dubrovnik Lazarete with exibitions and representative shows in Berlin. Anita Kapraljevic is born in Mostar and lives in Berlin. "Woman in Blue” Oil Painting 53" x 27.5" inch by Katherine Bakhoum Tisné Katherine Bakhoum represents art that has been forgotten for a long while. She draws upon the concept and the subject of the orientalism and the enchantment of that period. Through her work we can feel the researches she has done to reveal her Egyptian origins and the magic and power of the bygone times. Katherine Bakhoum has succeeded in imprinting her own stamp to evoke a new world full of charm, nostalgia and magic that is deeply implanted in her canvas. Her power dwells in creating her own style of contemporary expressionism building upon the old orientalism. Katherine Bakhoum’s art comes up out of an Egyptian childhood and from the distance of a life spent in France. What is left unsaid is as important as what is shown. Decorative yes, as in old orientalism, when everything was texture and what wasn’t texture was veiled, a reincarnation of old spirits, dervishes, orientalist motifs and the stuff of a once powerful civilization, the better to suggest it all might just come to life again. The choice of ancient subject matters, the echo of orientalist pieces in the collages, like the echo of the appeal of ancient gestures, of foreign lands, and domestic tapestries, all this weaves up out of Katherine Bakhoum’s creations. Sometimes we only have the line of a horizon on which to hang our imagination, sometimes we only have the trace of a profile in the shadows. What we always have is a persistent belief in beauty. Where there is beauty, there is hope. Katherine Bakhoum has abandoned neither.
