Very elegant 1960s round teak 3-size extension dining table by Ansanger Mobler (AM Denmark). Comfortably seating either 4, 6 or 8 large dining chairs. Quintessential Scandinavian Modern design: minimal, fine materials, highly practical, clean smooth lines, sturdy construction and timeless aesthetic.
In round form, the table has a diameter of 48 in (122 cm) and a single leg, which achieves an uncluttered appearance under the table and buttressing into four feet that rise a low profile parallel to the floor. This leg form in teak bears a striking resemblance to the iconic La Fonda base by Charles Eames, cast in Aluminum. We have pictured them together.
In extended dining form, the table has a length of either 87 in (220 cm) or 67 in (171 cm). The width remains at 48 in (122 cm). The wooden elements of the table (top, legs and feet) bisect into two equal parts, each of a semi-circular top, leg and two feet. The extension mechanism is achieved by sliding these two symmetrical halves away from each other on metal rails hidden underneath and then inserting either one or two leaves onto the metal rails.
Table height is standard 28.5 in (72 cm) in both round and extended formats.
The ballerina legs are carved from solid teak while the top is a veneer of exceptional quality straight grain teak. The table retains it's original finish in remarkable vintage condition with only extremely minor signs of wear. This timeless table shows every promise of gracing a kitchen or dining room for another 60 years, and then some.
