Arthur Turner

Arthur Turner was born in Houston, Texas in 1940. He still works and lives in Houston. He received his BA from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. Later, in 1966, he earned his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Awards include: First Award, Clear Lake Arts Alliance Exhibition, Houston, Texas, 2000; Travel grant from Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, 1992; Selected for Outstanding Educator of America Awards Program, 1973; First Award, Corpus Christi Art Foundation Annual Exhibition, Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christi, Texas, 1973; First Purchase Award, Beaumont Art Museum, 20th Annual Exhibition, 1971; and Purchase Prize, 22nd Annual Texas Watercolor Society Exhibition, San Antonio, Texas, 1971.

And early 20th-century modernist art is the thing that I keep returning to.” - Michael Pauker Bay Area artist and art educator Michael Pauker was born in New York in 1957, and knew he wanted to be an artist from the age of 15. He earned a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts at SUNY Purchase in his native state of New York. In 1989, he went on to earn an M.F.A at Mills College in Oakland and was awarded the City of Oakland Artist Fellowship in Painting. He has been a Bay Area resident since 1988. His work has been exhibited widely across the U.S., as well as in Japan and Costa Rica, and is included in the collection of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
