Bernard Cornwell Furniture

British, b. 1944

Bernard Cornwell, OBE, is a celebrated English author widely regarded as one of the premier writers of historical fiction in the world. Born in London in 1944, Cornwell has sold over 30 million books globally, earning acclaim for his meticulously researched and action-packed narratives that bring history to life.

He is best known for creating the Sharpe series, which chronicles the adventures of Richard Sharpe during the Napoleonic Wars and was adapted into a classic television series starring Sean Bean. Cornwell is also the author of The Saxon Stories (adapted as the hit Netflix series The Last Kingdom), which explores the origins of England through the eyes of the warrior Uhtred of Bebbanburg. His extensive bibliography also includes the Warlord Chronicles—a gritty retelling of the Arthurian legend—and the Grail Quest series.

In 2006, Cornwell was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to literature and television. He currently divides his time between Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Charleston, South Carolina.
