This is a spectacular large guinea fowl made in porcelain by Achille Bloch in Paris between 1900 and 1926. The Achille Bloch factory started its life as Porcelaine de Paris founded by Jean-Marx Clauss in 1829. If took inspiration from the great manufacturers of the 18th century: Meissen, Sèvres and others. The factory started small at 8 rue de la Pierre-Levée, but kept increasing its business. In 1890 the factory was bought by Achille Bloch and Léon Bourdois, and between 1900 and 1926, after Bourdois' departure, it was called Achille Bloch. Achille Bloch can be counted as one of the "great imitators", together with its fellow Paris...
