Carol Swain Paintings
Carol Swain is a visual artist based in Melbourne who is fascinated and drawn to the random abstract forms that she perceives within nature, disasters, abandoned building sites and the banal forms created from discarded objects on the street. Swain completed her Master of Contemporary Art in 2012 at the Victorian College of Arts. She also completed a postgraduate diploma of visual art VCA in 2011. She has shown her works in both solo and group exhibitions in numerous artists'-run spaces in Melbourne. She works predominantly in the medium of oil painting but also has a background in printmaking. She explores through the language of abstraction in response to the poetic dialogue between the external and internal world. Swain received the Langridge Oil Painting Award in 2011, at the postgraduate end-of-year show at the Victorian College of the Arts. One of her prints, The Jazz Player, a woodblock print, was selected as part of “An Anthology of Printmaking and Poetry” in Melbourne in 2000 while she was studying at Tafe CAE Visual Diploma of Art.
