Signed in pencil by the artist with painted remarque of a golfer in full swing and with hand finishing. Printed and published by Eyre & Spottiswoode, Ltd., His Majesty's printers. 4 Middle New Street, London, E.C.4. and with Fine Art Trade Guild stamp. Aldin produced few golfing works and this example is one of a series of six golf course views "Famous Golf Courses" published in the 1920's. The six golf courses were Sunningdale, North Berwick, Westward Ho, Royal St. George's, Walton Heath and St Andrews. taken from Royal North Devon website:- Royal North Devon at Westward Ho! can rightly claim to be the cradle of English Golf. Founded in 1864, it is the oldest golf course in the country and is regarded as the St Andrews of the South. The golf course is as tough as any of the UK's more famous links layouts and has recently been placed in Golf World 's "Top 100 Courses in the World" that a golfer "must play". Not only is Royal North Devon a great course, it is also a place of huge historical importance. Inside the warmly welcoming clubhouse, the golf museum, honours boards and the clubs top competition trophies are worth a visit on their own and help to tell the story of the game and this remarkable club's unique place in it. Cecil Aldin, Old Inns, The Talbot Inn. A very nice colourful Chromolithograph by Cecil Aldin of The Talbot Inn, Chaddesley, Corbett. The print is printed and published by Eyre & Spottiswoode, Ltd., 4 Middle New Street, London, E.C.4. and signed in pencil by the artist in the bottom left-hand margin with Fine Art Trade Guild blind stamp. The Talbot Inn appeared in Aldin's book 'Old Inns' published in 1921 by Heinemann and was one of Aldin's most popular series, it was followed by Old Manor Houses (1923) and Cathedrals and Abbey Churches of England (1924). On the back board of the print is the original paper label 'Old English Inns...
