Paco Muñoz (1925-2009) began quickly his career as furniture designer and decorator working for international chiefs of state and celebrities, including the Spanish royal family. In 1959, in an effort to make a much needed next step in traditional Spanish interior design and, breaking Spain's then long established cultural isolation, connect to European modernity - especially Scandinavian and Italian design - to enter the age of furniture industrialization, he founded the firm Darro.
When he designed the iconic Riaza chair for the Golf Club de Campo de Villa in Madrid, Muñoz invented, from a Spanish perspective, a new way of sitting, not without paying a respectful hommage to the traditional Spanish friar...
