David W. Haddon Portrait Paintings
David W. Haddon was a Birmingham born artist who spent time painting in Newlyn, Cornwall alongside his fellow Birmingham artists Walter Langley and Edwin Harris. Haddon is featured in the Cornwall Artists’ Index. Haddon spent time painting the local Cornish fishing community. Many of his portraits depict seafaring men and women, most often in interiors and illuminate the effects of such a life on the sitter's weathered face and hands. Unlike other Newlyn School painters, Haddon's portfolio of work is filled with close up interior portraits, rather than the dramatic coastal landscapes of Cornwall.
