A very engaging and alluring set of fifteen photographs by famed controversial Japanese photographer and contemporary artist Nobuyoshi Araki from his 2000 highly sexually charged Sexual Desire Portfolio I. Araki is best known for his provocative works that merge elements of eroticism and fine art, frequently exploring themes of intimacy, sexuality, and the fleeting nature of life. This limited edition portfolio (only 30 in total were published) comprises the complete set (quite rare as few complete sets exist today) of fifteen offset prints on watercolor paper and is published by Taka Ishii Editions, Tokyo. RCA Records had flown a bunch of American journalists to London in July 1972 to promote David’s upcoming US tour and the release of his Ziggy Stardust album. Iggy and Lou were both working on their new albums, Raw Power and Transformer and were hanging out at the conference. Even though Iggy and Lou were still basically “underground” artists, and David’s ascent was still in its early days, it was a photo that I really wanted to take. Only later did it become one of the classic rock images. So I hustled them together. The only thing I remember was Lou saying: “This will be a pretty picture!” When Mick Rock first met David Bowie, he had previously met and photographed both Iggy Pop and Lou Reed, so there was an immediate bond formed...
