Vintage Amboyna Cigar Humidor Casket Dunhill 20th Century
By Dunhill
Located in London, GB
A elegant Dunhill France, amboyna cased cigar humidor casket, dating from the second hald of the 20th Century. The humidor has a Spanish cedar-lined interior which helps to keep the aroma and is equipped with Passatore humidification system. The humidor has a very stylish & timeless design and would make any cigar connoisseur happy. Complete with working lock and key. Condition: In really excellent condition, please see photos for confirmation of condition. Dimensions in cm: Height 11.5 x Width 28.5 x Depth 24 Dimensions in inches: Height 4 inches x Width 11 inches x Depth 9 inches Amboyna is a type of wood which has its origins in Indonesia (the preferred veneer comes particularly from the Andaman Islands). The grain texture is one of the most seldom and exclusive on earth. The burls are often very small, which is why the sheets of veneer come in small dimensions. The colours range from deep yellowish-orange to dark red. After finishing the surface, the grain texture of amboyna wood has a depth and richness unmatched in other textured woods. Humidor is any kind of box or room with constant humidity that is used to store cigars, cigarettes, orpipe tobacco. For private use, small wooden or acrylic glass humidor boxes for a few dozen cigars are used, while cigar shops may have walk-in humidors. Humidors can be used to store other goods for which a certain level of humidity is desirable; the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team stores game balls in a large humidor at their home stadium, Coors Field, to counteract the effects of Denver's high altitude and generally low humidity. Humidors of all sizes use hygrometers to keep track of the humidity levels. Classification of humidors Walk-in humidor - most common in cigar bars or stores. One room is built as or converted to a humidor where all the cigars are stored. Cabinet humidor - usually placed on the floor as a piece of furniture. Typically holds 1000-5000 cigars. Table humidor - often quite heavy, though portable in theory, it's usually kept in one location. Capacity ranges from three hundred to a few thousand cigars. It usually comes with a polished wood exterior, marble, leather or combination of exotic elements, and glass top. Personal humidor - semi-regular cigar smokers will sometimes keep a small humidor in their homes for personal storage, special events, or aesthetic characteristics of the humidor itself . Usually contains 20-75 cigars. This may also be known as a "Desktop Humidor". Travel humidor...

Questions About Dunhill Decorative Objects
  • 1stDibs ExpertMarch 22, 2022
A Dunhill lighter is a cigarette lighter created by the brand Dunhill. The company opened in 1924 and continues to manufacture lighters today. Its most famous design, the boxy Rollagas, has remained unchanged since its introduction in 1956. On 1stDibs, shop a collection of Dunhill lighters.
  • 1stDibs ExpertDecember 5, 2024
The history of the Dunhill watch starts with the founding of retailer Dunhill by Alfred Dunhill in 1893. During its early days, Dunhill's London store sold men's giftware and accessories produced by other makers, but it gradually began producing its own product line. By the 1920s, Dunhill had added watches to its offerings and, in the mid-20th century, had ramped up its watch production through partnerships with Swiss makers. When the quartz crisis struck, Dunhill embraced the demand for quartz watches by incorporating the technology into many of its timepieces. This change made Dunhill's sales strong throughout the 1980s and beyond. Today, Dunhill continues to offer limited edition mechanical and quartz timepieces, such as the Automatic Steel, the Royal Steel, the Slimline and the British Racing Green. On 1stDibs, find a variety of Dunhill jewelry and watches.

Yes, Dunhill is a luxury brand. With a history that spans more than 130 years, Dunhill is recognized for its luxurious pieces that have drawn fans including the Duke of Windsor, Pablo Picasso and Frank Sinatra. The British fashion label is especially well known for producing men's ready-to-wear suits, leather goods and accessories made with premium materials. As a result, Dunhill is able to sell its pieces at the kind of prices most often associated with luxury brands. Shop a selection of Dunhill apparel and accessories on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
Dunhill lighters are made in England. The Dunhill company, known for its decorative designs, produced one of the first butane gas lighters during the 1950s. On 1stDibs, you’ll find a collection of antique Dunhill lighters from some of the world’s top sellers.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 22, 2024
Dunhill lighters are so expensive for a few reasons. For one thing, the lighters feature durable construction that comes from strict quality controls that increase the cost of labor associated with manufacturing. In addition, Dunhill uses fine materials, such as sterling silver, chrome and brass. The reputation and heritage of the brand also make demand for its products high, contributing to the price. Shop an assortment of Dunhill lighters on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertMay 5, 2023
Whether Dunhill lighters are gold-plated varies. Some pieces do feature genuine 18-karat yellow gold plating, while others are made of materials like sterling silver, brass, chrome and lacquer. On 1stDibs, shop a selection of Dunhill lighters from some of the world's top sellers.
