François Arnal Z Stool
By François Arnal
Located in PARIS, FR
The Z Stool by François Arnal was created in 1970, it is made of folded smoked polymethylmethacrylate. This material, more commonly known as Plexiglas, allows the creation of lines of great fluidity while maintaining sufficient rigidity to serve as a seat. The Z Stool is one of a series of works in Plexiglas imagined and sometimes realized by Arnal. Some are unique creations, others, like this stool, have been edited. Following its acquisition in 1994, a version of this stool is now on display at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Paris). François Arnal (creator), Atelier A (director), Mobilier Modulaire Moderne (editor), Stool Z, circa 1970. Beautiful original conditions, some slight signs of use. BIOGRAPHY François Arnal (1924-2012) is mainly known for his career as a painter but he was also a sculptor, writer and designer. He designed furniture under the aegis of Atelier A for a fairly short period of five years between 1969 and 1974. Atelier A, created by the latter, was a laboratory for artistic research. The creators taking part in this adventure are not designers but artists such as Robert Malaval...
