Fu Chin Art

Taiwanese

Fu Chin is a ceramic artist whose life and work are deeply devoted to celadon and crackle glaze. His artistic spirit seems to have traveled across time from the Song dynasty, transforming a profound love for celadon into contemporary works of exceptional beauty. For him, creation does not begin simply at the potter’s wheel. It grows from long hours of reading, reflection, and lived experience, where inspiration is refined and ultimately crystallized in the kiln into unique works of art.

Since beginning his practice in 2004, Fu Chin has built an international reputation within only fifteen years. His commitment to the aesthetics of Eastern craftsmanship and his precise mastery of glaze and firing have earned him acclaim. He has collaborated with the National Palace Museum to develop high-end celadon works and has been recognized in exhibitions and competitions across Taiwan, China, and Japan. In 2020 his Sky Celadon Vessel received the highest honor, the Tōshin Prize, at the 51st Tokai Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition, making him the first Taiwanese artist in the association’s history to achieve this distinction. The same work was later added to the collection of the Mino Ceramic Art Museum in Japan.

Fu Chin’s celadon works are highly distinctive and considered irreplaceable treasures in the art market. His practice not only carries forward the techniques of traditional Eastern craftsmanship but also expresses the beauty of contemporary art with remarkable clarity, allowing the world to experience the unique brilliance of Taiwanese ceramic art.
