French Art Deco Bronze Panther on Marble Base with Jade Trim, signed LEDUC 1910s
Located in Salzburg, AT
French Art Deco bronze panther on marble base with jade trim, signed by hand, LEDUC
This object is a very rare depiction of a panther playing with a ball.
The seated animal is in an attacking position, teeth bared, ears flattened, and paw extended to strike the ball.
The situation is skillfully captured, and the overall arrangement of materials and colors is harmonious.
The jade edging is interrupted at the front and back by black stripes in marble, and the panther has a very beautiful patina. The jade setting has different tones ranging from light to slightly richer.
There are also white inclusions in the stone, but no chipped corners or edges.

The white alabaster brings the statue to life, and is a nice addition to any statue of a female. The beautiful nude has flowing hair and the body reveals just enough to create a sexy pose. Mounted on a sienna marble base is always a plus, and not often used for sculpture. Artist signed "Vale", and also bearing the foundry signature and seal of Henry Schumacher...
